Collaborative project opportunities under Bilateral National Fund – EEA Grants 2009-2014 on the Romanian market

Up to EUR 200,000 are available under the Bilateral National Fund – EEA Grants 2009-2014 for the Romanian market through a recently-launched call for the sub-programme “Technical Assistance and Fund for Bilateral Relations at National Level”. The programme’s total budget is EUR 200,000 (EUR 50,000 for the Travel Support measure; EUR 150,000 for the Priority Sectors measure), and the funding intensity is 100%.  There is no maximum limit for the grant, thus there can be a single applicant for the whole programme. The deadline for submitting applications is 30 June 2016

This programme includes two measures: Travel Support and Priority Sectors. The eligible priority sectors are:

  • Justice and home affairs, judicial capacity building and Schengen cooperation
  • Health
  • Cultural cooperation, cultural diversity, heritage and cultural exchange
  • Environment
  • Children and youth at risk
  • General and horizontal priorities, such as:
    • Activities promoting knowledge and understanding of the EEA Agreement.
    • Regional activities on topics of bilateral importance.
    • Participation at conferences related to the EEA and Norway Grants.
    • Activities for the improvement of the situation of the Roma community.

Eligible activities include developing partnership projects, organisation of conferences and seminars on common interest themes, technical cooperation and exchange of experts, short-term training, study visits, elaboration of reports and studies, other common interest activities, transfer of knowledge, experience, techniques, good practices between similar entities in Romania and Norway.

Eligible project proposals must be submitted by consortia comprising of:

  • a Romanian NGO as lead applicant; and
  • an eligible donor state entity: NGOs, universities, research institutes, associations, foundations, unions, professional associations, employers’ associations.

Following a very positive experience with this mechanism during the 2009 – 2014 funding cycle, in 2015 we published a detailed study with the results of the EEA & Norway Grants across the CEE markets that focuses on programmes addressing private sector enterprises.
