The Energy programme in Romania under the EEA & Norway grants (RO-Energy), operated by Innovation Norway, has the objective to achieve less carbon intensive energy and increased security of supply and strengthen the long-term cooperation between the Donor States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and the Beneficiary State – Romania. The budget of the programme is over 60 million euro for the period of 2014-2021.
There have already been several open calls for proposals under this programme, focus area for Renewable energy. As per the public information provided by the Fund Operator earlier this year, 52 projects were submitted in the following calls: Call 1 Hydropower; Call 3 RES and Call 2 Geothermal; SGS-1 Hydropower, Geothermal and other RESs for SMEs and NGOs.
The submitted applications account for a total volume of grant requested of EUR 44.5 million of grants (vs. EUR 21.1 million competition budget), corresponding to a 50% success chance for the applicants. However, the available funding may vary depending on the focus area:
– Call 1 Hydropower – budget 7.5 million euro; 6 project applications; requested grants 9.7 million euro
– Call 3 RES – budget 11 million euro; 28 project applications; requested grants 22 million euro
– Call 2 Geothermal – budget 6.6 million euro; 7 project applications; requested grants 10.8 million euro
– SGS-1 Hydropower, Geothermal and other RESs for SMEs and NGOs – budget 2 million euro; 12 project applications; requested grant 2 million euro
